Concord Native Attempted To Save Airline Passenger's Life On Tebow Flight

CONCORD (CBS SF) – While social media was abuzz Tuesday was over Tim Tebow's role in a tragedy aboard a Delta flight, a physician's assistant who grew up in Concord was the one who battled to keep alive a passenger who had a heart attack.

Nikki Freeze, who now lives in Phoenix, was aboard the flight from Atlanta to Phoenix when the medical emergency occurred.

According to her father's Von's Facebook page, he wrote:

"As your mom and I drove up to pick you up at the airport, I told her that you appeared to be sun burnt. Once you were in the car we find out that you had been doing CPR for the last hour of your flight on an individual that happen to be in the seat next to you on the plane."

Fellow passenger Richard V. Gotti posted a photo showing Freeze's effort and Tebow comforting the passenger's family on Facebook, a post that has been shared more than 10,000 times.

Freeze is dressed in the black sleeveless shirt.

Meanwhile, Erik Dellenbach, executive director of the Tim Tebow Foundation, tells the Florida Times-Union that the former NFL quarterback prayed with the family and other passengers after the medical emergency on the Sunday night flight.

After the plane landed in Phoenix, Dellenbach says Tebow used a car that had been waiting for him to carry the man's family to the hospital where he'd been taken.

Unfortunately, the man later died at the hospital.
