Second Victim In Tuesday Shooting Near San Jose State Dies

SAN JOSE (CBS SF) -- The second victim who was injured in a shooting near San Jose State University Tuesday afternoon died on Thursday, according to police.

The San Jose Police Department issued a statement announcing that the second victim had succumbed to his injuries early Thursday evening. The victims' names are being withheld until next of kin is notified.

Officers responded at 2:11 p.m. to the area of South 11th and East San Antonio streets after a report of a shooting. They arrived to find the two male victims, who were each shot at least once, San Jose police Sgt. Enrique Garcia said.

The two victims were found inside a car that had been hit by gunfire about a block from the San Jose State campus.

The victims were taken to a hospital where one died from his injuries a short time later, Garcia said.

"We have a lot of witnesses to interview, surveillance footage to review, and we're still trying to put everything together," SJPD Lieutenant Eduardo Pedreira said.

No suspects have been identified since the shooting happened.
