Hundreds March Down SF Market Street In Peaceful Rally For Black Lives Matter

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- The officer-involved shooting deaths of two African American men earlier this week brought hundreds of people to downtown San Francisco Friday night.

Protesters held signs supporting the Black Lives Matter movement and police escorted the marchers from the Embarcadero to City Hall.

Demonstrators spoke out against what they call racist police shootings and called for justice for Alton Sterling and Philando Castile, shot and killed by officers in Louisiana and Minnesota, respectively.

The peaceful rally provided a stark contrast to a previous protest in Oakland, which shut down the Nimitz Freeway for several hours Thursday night.
