Protesters Denouncing Police Brutality March To Downtown SF
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- Protesters denouncing police brutality Saturday afternoon in San Francisco have marched from the city's South of Market neighborhood to the corner of Market and Fifth streets.
Around 2 p.m., the group had blocked traffic near Fifth and Bryant streets, forcing California Highway Patrol officers to close the Fifth Street on-ramp to eastbound Interstate Highway 80.
The on-ramp later reopened, according to CHP officials.
The protesters were initially causing detours on Muni bus lines 8, 30, 45 and 47. Those detours have since been cleared, Muni officials said.
Muni officials said bus lines routes on Market Street may be delayed as a result of the demonstration now at Market and Fifth streets.
Saturday's protest follows another that was held Friday evening in San Francisco, in which hundreds of people marched from Justin Herman Plaza to City Hall.
