Draymond Green Promises To Learn From Arrest

OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- It's been a month filled with learning life lessons for Golden State's Draymond Green.

First, it was a suspension for Game 5 of the NBA Finals after an on-court incident with Cleveland Cavaliers star LeBron James that resulted in a fragrant foul call. The call pushed Green over the NBA limit for fragrant fouls and benched him for one game with the Warriors leading the Finals by a 3-1 margin.

Golden State lost momentum and dropped the last three games of the Finals, losing their NBA championship crown to the Cavs. A remorseful Green blamed himself for the collapse and promised to keep his rough house play in check in the future so he would never put his team in that position again.

Then came his weekend arrest in East Lansing -- home to his alma mater Michigan State University -- for slapping a man on a street corner in an early morning confrontation.

On Tuesday, Green appeared on a panel at a technology conference in Aspen sponsored by Fortune Magazine.

He was immediately asked by the moderator about his arrest.

"When things happen you need to meet them head on," he said. "My legal team is handling it. It will be resolved really quickly. As a public figure, I just can't put myself in that situation. It's something I'll learn from and just move on."

Green will not have to appear in court for misdemeanor assault charges after a Michigan judge waved his arraignment.

Ironically, Green was on the panel with Maverick Carter, the CEO of Springhill Entertainment and Uninterrupted. It's a media company that lists both Green and James as investors.

When asked about his confrontation in Game 4 with his fellow investor, Green said it was just a product of the emotions of a game.

"What happened between me and LeBron, it was something that happened on the court," he said. "But at the end of the day, that's family. You know, I know he wanted to rip my head off on the court. I wanted to rip his head off. "

Green is about to begin preparation for the 2016 Rio Olympic Games where he will team up with Warriors stars Klay Thompson and Kevin Durant.
