Police Department Lures In Pokemon Gamers

NEWARK (CBS SF) -- Amid the Pokemon craze that has descended on the country in recent weeks, the Newark Police Department is now playing along and luring in Pokemon gamers.

The Newark Police Department, in hopes of creating a "fun and safe environment" for the Pokemon-obsessed, is inviting the public to partake in "Pokemon with the Police" on the evening of Sunday, July 24th.

The event, posted Monday on the Newark Police Department's Facebook page, states that the police department "will be activating nonstop 'Lure Modules'" at their station. The department says they will have two "Pokestops" near their station.

The Newark Police Department's community event comes after a number of incidents across the country that have led Pokemon gamers to face real life trouble as they navigate the interactive game.

Some players have been robbed, others injured and some have even located a Sonoma County fugitive.
