4.2 Earthquake Rocks San Andreas Fault Near Hollister

HOLLISTER (KCBS) -- A 4.2 quake rattled the Hollister area Tuesday afternoon -- the latest in a swarm of quakes along the San Andreas Fault running through Central California.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake struck at 2:38 p.m. near Ridgemark. It was quickly followed by a 2.9 aftershock.

There was no immediate reports of damage or injuries.

The region has been experiencing a quake swarm since late Sunday night.

There have been at least 18 small earthquakes in the area, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The first quake was reported Sunday night around 10:30 p.m., about 11 miles south of Hollister. The temblor measured 3.3 magnitude.
