Drivers Carjacked In San Francisco's Portola, Bayview

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) – San Francisco police said Tuesday they have responded to two separate carjackings in the past 24 hours in the city's Portola neighborhood and Bayview District.

The first carjacking occurred around 2:30 p.m. Monday when the victim, a 41-year-old man, was driving on Third Street at Yosemite Avenue, police said.

A suspect drove up next to the victim in a 1990s model white Honda four-door, pointed a handgun at him and told him to pull over.

The victim drove to Hollister Avenue and Hawes Street, where he has family, before the suspect was able to rush up to him and point the gun at him while demanding his keys, police said.

The suspect fled in the victim's vehicle, a 1992 gray Acura Legend, and three other suspects, all men in their late teens, also fled the scene.

Police later found the vehicle abandoned. The victim was not injured in the incident.

A second carjacking occurred around 2 a.m. today at Silver and San Bruno avenues, where the victim, a 31-year-old man, was parking his blue 2012 Honda Accord with paper plates, police said.

Two men in their 20s approached, opened the vehicle's door and struck the victim, pulling him out of the car and stealing his cash and cellphone, police said.

The suspects fled in the victim's vehicle. The victim refused medical treatment.

No arrests have been made in either case, according to police.
