Jennifer Hudson To Star Opposite Adam Sandler in New Netflix Film

By Amanda Wicks

(RADIO.COM) – Jennifer Hudson will be returning to the screen in 2017, the small screen that is. The singer and actress will be putting both of her talents to use when she stars opposite Adam Sandler in the new Netflix film Sandy Wexler.

Sandy Wexler will follow the self-titled character (played by Sandler) who runs a talent agency in the 1990s. The people he represents are all eccentric oddballs until he meets Courtney Clarke (Hudson), a singer who performs mostly at an amusement park. It's slated to be a romantic comedy, as Wexler finds himself fighting off strong feelings for Clarke.

Sandler co-wrote the script for the project, which marks his third with the streaming platform, and he will also serve as producer. Hudson continues to balance music and acting. She previously appeared in the film musical Dream Girls and Spike Lee's politically charged Chi-Raq.

Sandy Wexler begins shooting in early August and will be available to stream in 2017.
