Walnut Creek Teen Has Unusual Meeting With 'Star Wars' Composer

LOS ANGELES (CBS SF) -- A Walnut Creek teen got to help deliver a once-in-a-lifetime performance outside the home of a famous film theme composer that ended with a once-in-a lifetime encounter.

13-year-old trumpet player and Foothill Middle School student Bryce Hayashi is being mentored by musician Michael Miller, who lives part-time in the Bay Area.

Earlier this month while the two were in Los Angeles, they decided to perform a duet version of the theme song to 'Star Wars' outside the home of famed film composer John Williams.

With Hayashi on trumpet and Miller on flugelhorn, the pair nailed their rendition of the films triumphant opening theme.

As they came to the end of their performance, Williams opened his front door of his home to listen before walking out to greet them.

"I didn't think they'd make it, but they did," Williams is heard saying before extending his hand in greeting.

The clip was posted on YouTube on July 16th and has already racked up over 1.6 million views.

Williams has been nominated for 50 Oscars, many of them for best original score or song including the 'Star Wars' series, 'Jaws,' 'E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial,' the 'Indiana Jones' series and 'Jurassic Park.'
