Mötley Crüe's Vince Neil Pleads Not Guilty To Assaulting Fan

By Jon Wiederhorn

(RADIO.COM) – Vince Neil, the vocalist of disbanded rockers Mötley Crüe, has pleaded not guilty to a misdemeanor battery charge. The charge was filed against him in April after he allegedly assaulted a woman who asked Nicolas Cage for an autograph in a hotel in Las Vegas. A trial has been set for September 19.

Neil's attorney David Chenoff entered the not guilty plea for his client at a hearing on Wednesday, July 27th.

"I ask people not to prejudge situations until all the facts come in," Chesnoff told the press after the hearing, reported the Las Vegas Sun.

A metro police report states that Neil pulled a woman to the ground by her hair after she asked Cage for an autograph at the Aria hotel. "[Mr. Neil] and Mr. Cage went to The Aria. A female was attempting to talk to or get an autograph from Mr. Cage," Officer Michael Rodriguez of the Las Vegas Police Department told Rolling Stone. "Mr. Neil subsequently pulled her down to the ground by the hair."

Prosecutors charged Neil with misdemeanor assault in early July after authorities viewed surveillance video of the event, the aftermath of which was captured by paparazzi. If convicted, Neil could face receive up to six months in jail.
