All Lanes Reopened On Hwy 101 After Fatal Motorcycle Crash
PALO ALTO (CBS SF) -- All lanes have reopened on U.S. Highway 101 in Palo Alto where a motorcyclist was killed in a collision with two other cars Thursday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The collision occurred around 9:15 a.m. on northbound Highway 101 near Oregon Expressway, CHP Officer Eric Anderson said.
A motorcyclist was traveling between the two far left lanes and collided with a Chevrolet Equinox in the leftmost lane, CHP officials said.
The motorcyclist lost control of the bike, was ejected and landed on the road, according to the CHP.
The motorcyclist was then run over by a flatbed truck and was pronounced dead at the scene, CHP officials said.
A Sig-alert was issued at 9:46 a.m. with all northbound lanes closed south of Oregon Expressway. One lane was shut down until at about 11 a.m., and the remaining lanes reopened about 45 minutes later, according to the CHP.
