Oakland Police Pursuit Ends In Crash With Cement Truck

OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- A driver who allegedly struck an Oakland police officer with her car Tuesday afternoon was chased until she crashed into a cement truck, injuring herself and four passengers, including a 3-year-old girl, police said.

Police had responded to reports of a fight in the 8800 block of International Boulevard at 2:17 p.m. when the officer was hit. The driver struck the officer and fled the scene, police said.

The officer was treated for his injuries at the scene and didn't need to be taken to a hospital.

Other officers saw a car nearby that matched the description of the one that struck the officer and tried to pull her over, but she fled. Officers pursued the car to 98th and Edes avenues, where the driver struck a cement truck.

All five occupants of the car, four women and a 3-year-old girl, were injured. The driver was pinned inside and needed to be extricated.

They were all taken to a hospital in stable condition, police said.
