Kanye's Choice For San Francisco Colors Not A Hit

KCBS_740SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) – Fans of Kanye West's music and fashion lined up in the early morning hours Friday for a chance to buy apparel at his "Pablo" pop-up store located in San Francisco's Chinatown.

Those at the front of the line had been there for 16 hours awaiting for the doors to open at the store located at 45 Wentworth Place.

"Not only is he one of the supreme icons of the music industry, he's also huge in the fashion industry," said a fan was patiently awaiting his turn in line. "People are lined up here three quarters of the way around a block. That just crazy."

Another said the clothing line made him feel emboldened.

"I just want to look good. You know you look good, you feel good, you do go," the fan told KCBS.

The rapper-turned-fashion mogul opened 21 stores worldwide just for this weekend to sell clothing based on his latest album, "The Life of Pablo."

"Pablo is like St. Pablo in Spanish like from the bible," a fan told KCBS. "His album was a gospel themed album. So there's that. And also Pablo Picasso and Pablo Escobar."

The fans were lined up to pay $60 for a t-shirt, $100 for a hoodie and more than $300 for a jacket.

The cloths were customized for each of the 21 cities with specific color schemes for each location.

"We saw where New York got black on black – that looked cool," another fan told KCBS. "Chicago got gray and green. We got orange and purple."

The San Francisco color scheme was not a hit with many in line.

"If it's all orange and purple, I'm not going to buy anything," a fan told KCBS.
