Woman Recovering From Gunshot Wound To Chest After Antioch Mall Shooting

ANTIOCH (CBS SF) -- A woman is recovering in the hospital after being shot at a mall in Antioch Friday afternoon, according to police.

Police said officers responded at 4:11 p.m. to the Somersville Towne Center located at 2550 Somersville Rd. on reports of numerous shots fired.

Upon arrival, officers were able to get in contact with a vehicle attempting to leave the scene at a high speed, and found a 20-year-old woman inside suffering from a single gunshot wound to the chest.

The victim was transported to a hospital where she was reported in stable condition.

While investigating the shooting, officers received information of an unrelated theft, where the suspect was allegedly in possession of a gun.

A vehicle was stopped, and three females were detained. Police said stolen property was recovered, however there was no weapon located.

Further investigating revealed the two incidents were completely separate of one another, according to police.

Police said at this time the shooter is still considered outstanding, and the incident is under investigation.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Antioch police at (925) 778-2441.
