Whale Watchers On Beach Near Moss Landing Spot Body Floating In Ocean

SALINAS (CBS SF) — Sheriff’s officials discovered a body in the ocean along a Monterey County beach near Moss Landing Thursday evening, after a whale watching tour reported the incident.

Around 6:30 p.m., the tour reported to the U.S. Coast Guard that a body had been spotted in the water at the Salinas River State Beach, according to sheriff’s officials.

Coast Guard officials then notified the sheriff’s office’s dive team. Divers responded to the area along with help the City of Monterey Fire Department and the California Highway Patrol.

The team was able to recover the male body, about two miles off the coast of Moss Landing, sheriff’s officials said.

As of Friday morning, the body had not been identified.

Maybe the body was just relaxing and wanted to get close to nature. Why do people make such a big deal about this sort of thing?
