UC Berkeley Ranked #1 Best Public University
BERKELEY (CBS SF) -- U.S. News and World Report released its annual college rankings and University of California at Berkeley was the number one ranked public university in the country for the 19th year in a row.
Princeton was the top-ranking national university, followed by Harvard (2), University of Chicago (3), Yale (3) and Columbia (5).
Stanford tied with Columbia as the ranked 5th best national university.
Williams College is the number one liberal arts college.
California's UC system fared extremely well on the magazine's public university rankings with UCLA (2), Santa Barbara (8), Irvine (9) and San Diego (9) all making the top ten.
U.S. News and World Report has been publishing college rankings since 1983.
