Grieving Parents Push For Automakers To Install New Tech To Prevent Child Deaths In Hot Cars

KCBS_740 SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) -- Every nine days or so, somewhere in the United States, a child is left alone in a hot car and dies, and now grieving parents are among those pushing for a bill that would force auto makers to install preventive technology.

Some of the same activist groups who helped advance the law requiring rearview cameras on all new cars by 2018 are introducing the Hot Cars Act.

The bill would not require manufacturers to install any specific technology; it would just raise the safety standard and give auto makers a deadline to meet it.
