Stray Bullet Travels A Block, Hits Baby In Mother's Arms In Richmond

RICHMOND (KPIX 5) -- A toddler in his mother's arms was hit in the leg by a stray bullet after someone opened fire a block away.

It happened around 10:15 a.m. Friday when gunfire broke out on Second Street near Bissell Avenue.

The bullet's target was a 25-year-old man. One bullet hit the man but another flew a block north up 2nd Street and struck the infant being held by his mother on McDonald Avenue.

The baby was treated at Kaiser Permanente Richmond Medical Center and is expected to survive.

No arrests have been made.
