Overturned Big Rig Cleared From Southbound I-280 Near Los Altos

LOS ALTOS (CBS SF) -- One person was injured when a tractor trailer overturned, blocking all lanes of southbound Interstate Highway 280 near Los Altos for several hours Monday afternoon, according to police.

The big rig was carrying rocks and debris when it crashed on I-280 between Magdalena Road and Foothill Expressway shortly after 2 p.m. As a result of the crash, the truck dumped its load of rocks across the roadway.

UPDATE A truck carrying debris that flipped on southbound I-280 was cleared by about 6:20 p.m. according to reports and all lanes have reopened. More details on the crash: http://cbsloc.al/2cMbHGY

The Santa Clara County Fire Department said one person has been transported to the hospital.

While all lanes are blocked, vehicles are passing on the shoulder, one at a time, Los Altos police said.

The cleanup was expected to take at least four hours. All lanes of I-280 were reopened by about 6:24 p.m., but residual traffic due to the lane closures were likely to persist for some time.
