Firebug Targeting Iron Horse Regional Trail

CONCORD (CBS SF) — Investigators are looking into a series of suspected arson fires along the Iron Horse Regional Trail in Pleasant Hill and Concord, according to the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District.

Investigators are focusing on the trail to the north and south of Monument Boulevard, but cited the ongoing investigation for not releasing the exact number, locations, days and times of the suspicious fires.

Fire district officials also did not disclose why they think the fires are suspicious.

The fire district is asking for the public’s help in the case and would like anyone who lives near or uses the trail to be vigilant and to report any suspicious activities or people to police.

Also, people who live near the trail are asked to remove any dry vegetation or property from areas close to the trail.

Anyone with information about the fires is asked to call the fire district at (925) 942-9140 or an arson tip line at (866) 502-7766.
