Just before 10 p.m., Fremont police received a call from an Alameda-Contra Costa Transit driver reporting that someone was in the middle of the street on Fremont Boulevard, between Union Street and Chapel Way.

Officers responding to the report found an unconscious 43-year-old Fremont woman lying in the second northbound lane.

Paramedics provided medical care at the scene before the woman was transported to a trauma center, where she is in critical condition.

The bus driver had had contact with a male witness, who left the scene before officers arrived.

The man appears to be in his 40s and was reportedly driving a light-colored, possibly gold, Toyota Camry.

Anyone with information about the collision or the witness can contact Fremont Police Traffic Investigator J. Aranguren at (510) 790-6765 or jaranguren@fremont.gov.
