Toddler Critical After Oakland Mother Arrested For Alleged Abuse

OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- An Oakland mother was arrested early Thursday morning for allegedly inflicting injuries on her 13-month-old boy that have left him in critical condition at a local hospital, police said.

Officers responded to the hospital at 12:26 a.m. Thursday to investigate a report about the boy's condition, according to police.

A preliminary investigation by the responding officers along with investigators from the Police Department's special victims unit and medical staff concluded that the boy's injuries are consistent with child abuse, police said.

The boy's mother was arrested and the boy is listed in critical condition, according to police.

Oakland police logs indicate that the boy's family lives in the 10400 block of MacArthur Boulevard.
