SJSU International Student Accused Of Raping 2 Women Apparently Leaves U.S.

SAN JOSE (KPIX 5) – An international student and water polo player at San Jose State University is accused of sexually assaulting two women at a party last month.

The school said the student appears to have left the country after being temporarily banned from campus over the allegations.

University officials said two students came forward to report that a freshman water polo player had raped them at an off-campus party over Labor Day weekend.

The school has not released his name, but said he has maintained his innocence from the beginning.

In September, the San Jose Police Department and the school’s anti-discrimination or Title XI office started investigating after the first woman came forward. Two weeks later, another woman came forward, and the school suspended the student temporarily.

He is not allowed to participate in any water polo practices or go on campus property.

The school said it acted quickly and appropriately to complaints. The student has not been arrested in connection with allegations or charged with any crime.

Meanwhile, the District Attorney’s office is reviewing the case.
