Sonoma County Woman Suspected Of Mailing Opioid Drugs To Jail Inmate

CAMP MEEKER (CBS SF) -- Sonoma County sheriff's deputies arrested a Camp Meeker woman Wednesday on suspicion of mailing an opioid drug to an inmate in the county jail.

Jail correctional deputies intercepted mail addressed to Trent Armstrong, 25, of Camp Meeker in west Sonoma County in mid-September, sheriff's Sgt. Jason Lucas said.

Armstrong is serving a one-year term for auto theft and his extradition to Arizona to face drug charges there is pending. Deputies determined Armstrong's girlfriend, Monica Genetti, 38, of Camp Meeker, mailed Suboxone to Armstrong over several months, Lucas said.

The drug is used to manage opioid abuse and withdrawal but also presents a high risk for abuse and addiction, according to Lucas.

Genetti was arrested Wednesday while driving a vehicle in Santa Rosa for driving on a suspended license and violation of probation. Deputies found undelivered mail containing suboxone strips and a small amount of methamphetamine in the vehicle, Lucas said.

Genetti also was arrested for furnishing a controlled substance, smuggling a controlled substance into a jail, conspiracy and possession of a controlled substance. She was booked into Sonoma County Jail but posted bail and was released, Lucas said.

Armstrong also was charged with smuggling drugs into a jail and conspiracy, Lucas said.
