San Jose YMCA Counselor Suspected Of Lewd Acts With Child

SAN JOSE (CBS SF) -- A YMCA counselor suspected of committing lewd acts with a juvenile during an after school program in San Jose was arrested this week, police said.

Taylor Smith, 25, of San Jose, allegedly committed the lewd act on a girl who was part of the YMCA program at Ida Price Middle School located at 2650 New Jersey Ave. sometime last month, police said.

The Police Department's Internet Crimes Against Children/Child Exploit Detail Task Force investigated the allegation and arrested Smith without incident on Wednesday in San Jose, according to police.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call police Detective Sgt. Spears at (408) 537-1397. Those who wish to remain anonymous may call Silicon Valley Crime Stoppers at (408) 947-7867.

The arrest comes after a YMCA childcare worker was charged last year with sexually abusing children in Morgan Hill.
