Armed Confrontation In Vallejo Starbucks Leads To Police Chase, Shooting

VALLEJO (CBS SF) — Vallejo police say a man wearing body armor, and armed with an assault-style weapon was shot after a brief confrontation inside a Starbucks Sunday evening.

Police say two officers were inside the Starbucks coffee house at 199 Lincoln Rd. West shortly before 9 p.m. when the suspect opened the door and pointed the weapon toward the officers, but appeared to malfunction, according to Lieutenant Jeff Bassett.

The suspect fled on foot, and the officers chased him through a parking lot toward the intersection of Magazine and Sheridan Streets.

The suspect was struck by gunfire three times before officers were able to subdue him. He was transported to a local hospital with life threatening injuries.  Police say he was carrying an additional loaded handgun, and wearing body armor.

The two officers involved were not hurt. The department is investigating the shooting.

  1. Due, certainly to training and sharp wits by officers, this event did not play out as the attempting murderer wanted it to go. Been to this jumpy-as$ filing station a zillion times, that particular Starbucks an even dozen since it was opened. You must always watch your back here.:-/
