Injury Report: Raiders Without McGee For Sunday's Game In Tampa

By Dave Thomas

As the Oakland Raiders prepare for their second of two games in Florida this weekend, they will have to avoid getting caught looking ahead.

After rolling to a 33-16 win in Jacksonville last Sunday, Oakland (5-2) is preparing for this Sunday's meeting with Tampa Bay (3-3). A win over the Bucs would allow Oakland to head home with a two-game sweep in the Sunshine State, along with carrying a record four games over .500 as it prepares for a big AFC West clash versus Denver (Nov. 6) in the Bay Area.

Meantime, Tampa Bay is feeling good about itself, this after scoring an easy 34-17 win in the Bay Area last Sunday versus San Francisco.

For the Raiders, back-to-back victories in Florida would allow them to finish a month where they would have lost only one game, a 26-10 home defeat to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Only one Raider is listed as out for Sunday's contest, tackle Stacy McGee.

The four-year pro out of Oklahoma did not practice at all this week in Florida where the Raiders have been staying since arriving before the Jacksonville game a week ago. To date this season, McGee has 14 total tackles, including a season-high four in a win over San Diego.

Oakland running back Latavius Murray (toe), who had missed a couple of games in a row, rushed for 59 yards and a score in last Sunday's win at Jacksonville. He is expected to play again this Sunday, giving the Raiders some help behind QB Derek Carr.

Bucs Could Be Missing Some Pieces

For Tampa Bay, several players wound up on the team's injury report heading into the weekend.

Among the names, running back Doug Martin is battling a hamstring injury, leaving him limited practice reps this week. Meantime, the Bucs could be missing a pair of defensive tackles come Sunday, as Clinton McDonald (hamstring) and Gerald McCoy (calf) both saw limited reps this week.

Tampa Bay, which still has AFC West dates at Kansas City and San Diego, lost to Denver at home earlier this season. The Bucs still have tough remaining foes in Atlanta (beat them in season opener), Seattle and Dallas; with games also against New Orleans (two), Chicago and Carolina.

Oakland Cuts Down On Travel

It is a bit of an oddity on the NFL schedule for a team to have to travel coast-to-coast two weeks in a row. As a result of being one of those teams this season, Oakland decided to forgo back-to-back cross-country flights this time around, instead staying in Florida for both games. Whether that lack of time in the air will help the Raiders remains to be seen.

The second half of Oakland's schedule shapes up nicely in that it does not have any other East Coast trips after this current one.

The Raiders, who will play four straight home games beginning with Denver next Sunday, have road dates left with their three AFC West opponents (Denver, Kansas City, San Diego). On the down side, Oakland finishes with three of its final four games away from the Bay Area.
