Dump Truck Nearly Rolls Onto San Leandro Home After Crash

SAN LEANDRO (CBS SF) – A dump truck that went out of control in unincorporated San Leandro Monday morning rolled down a hillside and landed right next to a home, according to authorities.

Alameda County Fire crews, CHP units and PG&E all responded to a call just before 9:30 a.m. Monday morning regarding the rollover accident involving a dump truck.

Units responded to the incident in the area of Saratoga Street and Strang Avenue in unincorporated San Leandro.

The truck apparently lost control and left the road, going through a chain-link fence before rolling over and landing onto a large palm tree that apparently broke the truck's fall.

The vehicle slid down the hill before coming to a stop, causing some damage to the home.

The driver of the truck sustained non-life threatening injuries and was extricated by firefighters. No one at the residence sustained injuries.

So far, there was no word on how serious the damage sustained by the home was, but it appeared that windows at the corner of the house where the truck landed were still unbroken.
