Trump Claims Tom Brady Voted For Him; Brady's Wife Says Otherwise

(CBS SF) – In the closing hours of the campaign, Donald Trump said he has received the vote of New England Patriots quarterback and San Mateo native Tom Brady. Meanwhile, Brady's wife has said on social media that they are not supporting the Republican nominee.

Trump told a rally in Manchester, New Hampshire on Monday that Brady called the nominee to say he voted for him, according to The Associated Press. He also touted an endorsement letter from Patriots coach Bill Belichick.

Trump said Belichick's letter congratulated him, wished him luck Tuesday, and commended him for the way he'd handled "an unbelievable negative and slanted media."

"By the way, is there a better reference than Tom Brady and Bill Belichick?" he later asked the crowd. "I don't think so."

Last week, Brady's wife Gisele Bündchen said last week that the couple is not supporting Trump, after being asked about it on Instagram.

CBS Boston reported that Brady turned in his absentee ballot in the Boston suburb of Brookline on Monday. Brady has not announced who he voted for.

The Patriots will face the San Francisco 49ers at Levi's Stadium on November 20th.
