Porn Mogul Larry Flynt Kicks Off 'Hustler Hollywood' Store In San Jose
SAN JOSE (KPIX 5) -- Porn mogul Larry Flynt showed up for the grand opening of his 'Hustler Hollywood' store in San Jose.
Flynt signed books and was greeted by thunderous applause by customers and fans.
He says business is brisk.
"We felt San Jose had a curiosity about sex that the rest of the country has," said Flynt.
Hustler Hollywood sells items like perfume, lingerie and massage oils, along with books and sex toys.
The store located off of Stevens Creek Boulevard has only been only a week and already it has proven a hit.
"The business has exceeded what the projection we had for it," he adds. In fact, initial estimates according to Flynt are double what even he thought.
The man whose First Amendment court fights (one went all the way to the Supreme Court) were chronicled in the film 'The People vs. Larry Flynt' has never shy about talking porn or politics.
He even made a run for California governor during the recall of Gray Davis.
KPIX 5 asked him his opinion about President-elect Donald Trump.
"Let's see how we do four years with a fruitcake," he said.
Again, not shy.
Flynt backed Hillary Clinton in a magazine article earlier this year, and says his businesses turn a higher profit under Democratic administrations.
"I'm not optimistic about the government and stuff," said Flynt. "I stay optimistic about the country. We make mistakes, we've been here before, we'll overcome this one."
As for whether he expects more First Amendment smack downs under a Trump administration?
"You never know. Their politics are different than mine."
