Loaded Cargo Ship Possibly Stranded In San Francisco Bay

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- A loaded cargo ship appeared to be stuck near Treasure Island Monday morning after departing the Port of Oakland.

Aerial video showed a tug boat pushing, or securing the MOL Continuity cargo ship just west of the island, and north of the Bay Bridge.

It was unclear why the ship needed assistance.

In 2007, the Cosco Busan struck the Bay Bridge, spilling more than 53,000 gallons of fuel oil into the bay, killing more than 6,800 birds, harming herring spawn that winter and closing beaches to swimmers for weeks.
