1 Officer Dead, 1 Injured In Georgia Shooting

AMERICUS, Ga. (CBS NEWS) Authorities say one law enforcement officer is dead and another is in "very, very critical condition" after a shooting in southern Georgia, reports CBS affiliate WMAZ.

Georgia Bureau of Investigation spokeswoman Nelly Miles says the two officers were shot Wednesday in Americus, about 130 miles south of Atlanta. The suspected shooter, who police identified as Minguell Kennedy Lembrick, remains at large.

Americus police Chief Scott Mark says one of his officers died and a Georgia Southwestern College officer was critically wounded in a shooting Wednesday afternoon, WMAZ reports. They were at an apartment complex near the campus at the time of the shooting, reportedly responding to a domestic disturbance call.
