Tesla Cracks Down On Electricity Hogs At Recharging Stations

PALO ALTO (KPIX 5) -- Tesla is cracking down on drivers who hog power stations.

The Palo Alto-based electric automaker made the announcement on its blog.

Drivers who fail to remove their car within five minutes of filling up on power will be charged $.40 per minute.

Users get smartphone notifications when their car is almost done charging.

Currently, charging stations are free to use for owners, but starting in 2017, Tesla is going to charge drivers a fee.
