Toppled Power Pole Disrupts BART Service

OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- BART service was halted Monday morning through the Transbay Tube to and from San Francisco after a power pole toppled near the West Oakland station, draping a high-intensity line across the tracks.

The transit agency issued a tweet around 8:30 a.m. saying the downed wires forced all service to and from Oakland West to be halted.

A utility crew was immediately dispatched and the wires were removed within an hour. BART said service was restored at 9:24 a.m. but that residual delays would be a problem for the remainder of the morning.

Earlier, an equipment problem on a train in San Francisco and police activity at Bayfair Station led to 20 minute delays.
