Small Plane Misses Runway, Crash Lands Near San Martin Airport

MORGAN HILL (KPIX) — A small plane crashed landed on a street after it missed the runway at San Martin Airport.

The pilot of the Cessna 182 suffered only minor injuries.

It happened around 5:15 p.m.

A passing motorist got cellphone video of the plane wrapped around a light post on San Martin Avenue near southbound Highway 101, just as first responders arrived.

No word yet as to exactly what caused the plane to miss the runway.

  1. The photo I saw did NOT show the plane “wrapped around” anything… but rather was adjacent to the light post and guardrail… otherwise appeared to be intact. Also, that appears to be adjacent to the Hwy 101 on-ramp, and not a ‘street.’
