Dave Lewis has been the evening sports anchor on KCBS since 1996 following a year in news at KSFO. Dave began his broadcasting career in San Bernardino at KGGI before moving on to Q106 San Diego, KWSS San Jose, KWLD San Francisco and KHQT San Jose. One of his career highlights was being on the air the night of the Loma Prieta Earthquake in 1989 “where I felt I true connection with the community and was a conduit during a traumatic experience.”
Dave is a fill-in sports anchor on KPIX/CBS 5 and the play-by-play announcer for the Cal women’s basketball team and the color commentator for high school games on Comcast Hometown Network. For 12 years, he was the radio play-by-play voice of the Santa Clara University men’s basketball team, announcing the school’s last trip to the NCAA Tournament in 1996. Also, Dave has announced WCC basketball on FSN Bay Area and on Sirius Satellite Radio.
Also, he’s acted in the independent films “Consequences”, “42 Cars” and “Defiance” while appearing in various television commercials and print ads.
Dave graduated cum laude at CSU East Bay in Mass Communications with a university GPA of 3.9.
Passionate about basketball, Lewis is the 8th grade boys and girls hoops coach at Mendenhall Middle School in Livermore—leading the Mustangs to the girls Tri Valley Championship in 2011 for the school’s first title in over 20 years. Dave keeps locals active with fitness boot camps, training athletes of all ages, using cutting-edge and “old school” techniques. He lives in Livermore with his wife Cheryl and has two children—up-and-coming guitar playing son, Hunter and daughter, Shelby, a starting defender on the UC Riverside soccer team.
