
Elissa Harrington joined CBS 5 in August of 2012. She was born and raised in the Bay Area and is thrilled to be reporting for the station she grew up watching.
Elissa previously worked at KTXL in Sacramento and KVAL in Eugene, Oregon. She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Oregon where she studied journalism and anchored the sports segment for the campus television station. Go Ducks!
Elissa has won numerous awards from the Associated Press and the Society of Professional Journalists including 1st place awards for her investigative reporting, writing, continuous coverage, and special reports.
In her career, she’s covered major stories including the Jaycee Dugard kidnapping case and the San Bruno pipeline explosion. She interviewed Barack Obama during the 2008 Presidential Primaries, was in the operating room during a surgery for Parkinson’s disease where the patient is awake, and reported upside down in a stunt plane during the California Capital Air Show.
Elissa loves living in the beautiful Bay Area and spends her free time exploring the coastal towns, traveling, taking pictures, and hanging out with friends. She also spends a lot of time on Twitter. You can follow her at @EHarringtonNews.
