Roqui Theus is a unique, versatile, and charismatic traffic anchor/reporter from Los Angeles with a vision, personality, and heart just as big as her smile. Roqui’s genuine and magnetic spirit gives her the ability to make others feel comfortable and feel heard. She attracts people from all walks of life, and if given the opportunity, can truly enchant the world.
Besides her spirit and character, Roqui’s accomplishments and experience also add to her versatility. In 2015, she moved to Northern California from LA as the San Francisco-Bay Area Reporter for the fun, zany, and well-loved morning news show, Good Day Sacramento. She likes to describe it as “…news that keeps you updated & uplifted!” As the first person to ever hold this position for KMAX-TV, she has set the bar high within both the Sacramento & Bay Area communities. It takes a brave, outgoing, and confident young reporter to take on a market of that size and caliber, especially while focusing on feature stories, entertainment, lifestyle, and the community all at once. Little did she know, her experience reporting and living in the Bay Area would lead to other exciting opportunities just a year later, and she now holds the position as KPIX 5 – CBS San Francisco’s morning traffic anchor and reporter, while continuing to freelance for Good Day.
Prior to Good Day Sacramento and KPIX, Roqui spent two and a half years working for KRNV, the NBC affiliate in Reno, Nevada. She worked as a reporter, producer, and production assistant learning every aspect of broadcast from writing, shooting, editing, to floor directing, making graphics, running audio, etc. With this experience, she’s able to share an empathetic bond with her co-workers in both the news and production departments. She bridges people together, and has the type of energy that can help the dynamic of any workplace or production.
These are the qualities Roqui also brought to the University of California, Irvine, where she majored in Sociology, wrote and conducted her own advice column in the school newspaper, and played basketball under a full athletic scholarship.
