In June, the United States' soccer team put in a fair showing at the 19th FIFA World Cup. Spain won the cup in a 1-0 match against the Netherlands. #7 - The XXI Olympic Winter Games
Vancouver, British Columbia, hosted the 2010 Winter Olympics from February 12–28, 2010. Approximately 2,600 athletes from 82 nations participated in 86 events in fifteen disciplines. The U.S. team had a historic Winter Games winning an unprecedented 37 medals. Team USA's medal haul, which included nine gold, marked the first time since the 1932 Lake Placid Games that the U.S. earned more medals than any other participant. 2010 is the year most Canadians will not soon forget.

#6 - George Steinbrenner Passes Away
On July 13, before the 81st All-Star Game, iconic New York Yankees owner George Steinbrenner died of a heart attack in Tampa, Fla. "The Boss" had led the champion baseball franchise for 37 years.

#1 - San Francisco Giants Win 2010 World Series
The prize that eluded Willie and Barry at long last belongs to the San Francisco Giants, thanks to a band of self-described castoffs and misfits and their shaggy-haired ace. Tim Lincecum, Edgar Renteria and the Giants won the World Series on November 1st, 2010, beating the Texas Rangers 3-1 in a tense Game 5 and taking the trophy home to the city by the Bay for the first time.
