It is unfortunate that people can’t control their actions and behaviors in public places. Attending football games should be entertainment and fun for people who enjoy the game. The main focus should not be on the “out of control fans”, but the action and attention should be on the field and the players. I do not see anyone being able to enjoy anything when they are drunk and out of control; fighting and disruptions causes chaos which distracts attention from the event. People need to be able to go out to a game, if they choose to do so, and be safe and free from harm. Grown-ups grow up and set an example for the kids.

@Barbara, Sports are about competition – and that extends to the fans. Asking people to watch quietly in the stands and avoid antagonizing each other is silly, and just not that fun anyway. There are plenty of ways to see a game safely and not worry about your child being traumatized. I’ve never been harmed, my friends have never been harmed, and I’ve never seen a child harmed at a game. Other than that – conflict is natural and it actually makes the games more fun when you become that much more emotionally invested in it.

As for the article… I’m not sure what this was supposed to be? A tiny photo slideshow? You showed a picture of each rivalry in a very confusing order, and described… the photo? We can SEE the photo! Why are you describing it? Describe the rivalry! That’s what the article is about!
