Hundreds Evacuated As Firefighters Battle Slew Of West Coast Blazes

Lightning sparked dozens of fires in Northern California, including one in rural Modoc County that spurred some 120 people to evacuate, and the threat of more strikes along with winds from looming thunderstorms could aggravate the firefight.

Ex-NorCal Tribal Leader Pleads Not Guilty In Killings

The lawyer for the former leader of a small Northern California Indian tribe is asking the community not to prejudge the woman as she faces trial on allegations that she shot and killed four people and tried to kill two others at a tribal meeting considering her eviction.

Suspect In NorCal Tribal Killings Reportedly Under Federal Investigation

Investigators were looking into whether Cherie Lash Rhoades had taken federal grants to the Cedarville Rancheria tribe, said the person who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitive nature of the case.

Woman Arrested In Deadly Rampage At NorCal Indian Tribal Headquarters; 4 Dead, 2 Critically Hurt

A woman involved in an eviction hearing at an American Indian tribal headquarters near the Oregon border went on a deadly rampage Thursday, killing four people and critically wounding two others in a gun and knife attack, police said.
