In addition to getting their tattoos removed, the Clean Slate program gives students eight weeks of life skills classes – learning everything from how to speak well to building a resume.

South San Francisco Leaders See Progress In Curbing Gang Activity

A multi-agency sweep Thursday produced 13 arrests across the Bay Area. Many of those suspects are accused of belonging to the 500 Block-C Street Gang, the same group police have linked to a drive-by shooting in 2010 that killed three suspected rival gang members.

Nobel Peace Prize Winner Speaks In Oakland On Gang Violence

The 1992 winner of the Nobel Peace Price brought her anti-violence campaign to the East Bay Monday night. Hundreds of community leaders and at-risk teens turned out to hear Guatemalan civil rights advocate Rigoberta Menchu speak at the Urban Promise Academy.
