The melee appears to have broken at the start of half time near the 50 yard line seats in the upper deck, when 49er fans and Cardinal fans began jawing at each other across an aisle. The initial shoving sent fans down the stairs and onto a walkway below. At that point, fans in Cardinals gear who had not been previously involved began taking swings at the pile, which included both men and women.
The 49ers again fell apart in the second half of a game, letting the Arizona Cardinals overcome a 14-6 half time deficit to win 23-14. Some players and fans blamed the officials.
San Francisco raced to the early lead than watched their opponent come back take the lead and snuff any attempt of a 49er comeback. The end result being a 23-14 Cardinal victory and a 49er team under .500.
“When you lose, you not only lose a game, but you lose a little confidence and you lose a little swag,” John Madden told the KCBS Radio morning crew. “(The 49ers) have to get the win and they have to get the confidence and the swag. When you lose you don’t know if you’re ever going to win another game.”
Diehard fans may want to close their eyes: with an 0-2 start and staring at possible 0-6 start now, the Oakland Raiders will be hard-pressed to avoid two ugly fates in 2014: they could end up worse than the 4-12 record they posted last year, and they could end up as the worst team in the NFL.
After losing in week 2, the 49ers will look to bounce back against the Arizona Cardinals. San Francisco will face a must win as they can’t afford to drop two in a row, especially with one coming at the hands of a division rival.

“You wish it didn’t happen,” John Madden told the KCBS Radio morning crew. “You make a deal like that and you decide that’s the player you want (and) you hope the heck that he’s physically sound.”
They scored only six points in the second half, but the 49ers prevailed at the end to beat the Cardinals 23-20 in Arizona Sunday. “I was impressed with how hard (the 49ers) played,” John Madden told the KCBS Radio morning crew.
