With the Falcons threatening to take the lead at the end of the last regular season game at Candlestick Park, NaVorro Bowman picked off a broken up pass and sealed a 49ers playoff berth with an 89 yard race to the end zone.
The underdog Atlanta Falcons gave San Francisco all they wanted Monday Night, but could not pull off the upset. In the final game played at Candlestick Park the 49ers sent off the stadium in style with a dramatic, playoff clinching win.
“This is a big game for the 49ers,” John Madden told the KCBS Radio morning crew. San Francisco can clinch a playoff spot with a victory. “I think it’s important for them to play well, to keep up the momentum they got from last week. One of the things is I don’t think they can get over-enthusiastic about this last game at Candlestick…”
The 49ers and Falcons both have a few players on this week’s injury report, but nothing major. When the two play Monday Night injuries will not be a deciding factor meaning the team that plays better will win.
Everything at Monday’s final regular season game will celebrate the iconic 1960 structure and all the history that happened within it.
While the rematch from last year’s NFC Championship Game will not quite live up to the hype that was expected when the season started, it’s still a very interesting match-up. Both teams have plenty to play for and will do everything they can to leave the field Monday with win.
