A $1.3 million study in 2011 showed that a bike path on western portion of the Bay Bridge would cost tens of millions of dollars. Now the Bay Area Toll Authority has voted unanimously to spend $10 million to commission another study on how to build that bike path.
The proposal being looked at would eliminate parking and build a bike lane on one side of the busy street.
Plans are moving forward for a bike path on the western span of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge although funding for the $500 million project has yet to be secured.
