Gov. Brown Signs Spending Plan That Expands Medi-Cal While Continuing Budget Cuts

Gov. Jerry Brown on Friday signed a budget for the 2014-15 fiscal year that accommodates an influx of uninsured residents into Medi-Cal yet leaves in place a 10 percent recession-era cut to most doctors, dentists and other health care providers who treat Medi-Cal patients.

Covered California Extends Payment Deadline To Jan. 15

Covered California says on its website that health coverage will continue to take effect on Jan. 1 but the payment deadline has been extended to prevent consumers from feeling rushed to pay recently received invoices.

California Asks Health Insurers To Extend Policies

California’s insurance commissioner on Thursday called on health insurance companies and the state insurance exchange to extend a deadline on individual policies through 2014 after President Barack Obama announced changes to his Affordable Care Act.
