Gov. Brown Vetoes Centerpiece Bill Putting New Restrictions On Gun Ownership

Gov. Jerry Brown has vetoed a bill that would have banned future sales of most semi-automatic rifles that accept detachable magazines, part of a firearms package approved by state lawmakers in response to mass shootings in other states.

Bill To Ban ‘Bullet Button’ Awaits Gov. Brown’s Signature

A bill sitting on the governor’s desk could finally close what gun control advocates describe as a huge loophole in California’s assault weapons ban. A KPIX 5 investigation first raised the issue more than a year ago, prompting Senator Leland Yee to introduce the first version of the legislation.
