San Francisco has become the first city in the nation to outlaw chewing tobacco from its playing fields, including AT&T Park.
State Assemblyman Tony Thurmond, D-Richmond, introduced legislation Tuesday that would prohibit the use of smokeless tobacco at all organized baseball venues in the state. San Francisco Supervisor Mark Farrell introduced a similar ban that would include AT&T Park.
As professional baseball players begin Spring Training, a San Francisco supervisor is expected to propose legislation banning tobacco use in all city venues where baseball is played.
Ask Bruce Bochy if he has a dip and San Francisco’s skipper offers up a standard response: “I don’t do that anymore.”
