Growing List Of NorCal Communities Running Out Of Water In Just 60 Days

At least a dozen communities in Northern and Central California are at risk of running out of water in just 60 days. The areas in jeopardy include Colusa and El Dorado and Butte County.

2 Northern California Counties Declaring Independence From California In Hopes Of Forming State Of Jefferson

Residents of Modoc and Siskiyou counties were expected to submit declarations in Sacramento Thursday to formally withdraw from California. They’d like to form the 51st state of Jefferson.

NorCal County Residents To Vote On Abandoning California, Forming 51st State Named Jefferson

Voters in Del Norte and Tehama, with a combined population of about 91,000, will decide June 3 on an advisory measure that asks each county’s board of supervisors to join a wider effort to form a 51st state named Jefferson.

Open Burning Ban Announced For Bay Area Counties

The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection announced a ban on open burning in areas including parts of Alameda, Contra Costa, Santa Clara, San Mateo, Santa Cruz and Monterey counties, effective Thursday.

Bay Area House Prices Rebound To 2007 Values

DataQuick said Wednesday that the median sales price for new and existing houses and condominiums reached $579,000 in March, up 7 percent from $540,000 the previous month and up 23 percent from $470,000 in March 2013. It is the 24th straight annual increase and the highest level since December 2007.
